Petit Anse

Petit Anse | North

Petite-Anse was originally a military post of the Cap Haitien district, located in the rural section of Basse-Plaine.

The law of October 17, 1821 classified Petite-Anse among the communes of the Republic, and that of November 30 put it in for the 5th class for the collection of patent rights. In 1835, it was brought to the 6th class. The law of November 20, 1821 fixed the legal distance of this town from the capital at 60 leagues.

This village, formerly known as the village of Petite-Anse Pier, is located near the Riviere du Haut du Cap on which there was a ferry. The government of General Boisrond Canal had an iron bridge built there in 1877. This bridge offers access to the communes of Dondon, Grande RiviƩre and Quartier Morin. The Riviere Gravois also waters this area.
